Program Description
WrighTek Academy Initiatives at Historically Black Colleges and Universities are intended to strengthen the teaching and study of information technology, in subjects such as:
- IT Management: Leadership in the IT industry best practice and educational credentials.
- IT Infrastructure: Learning how cloud platforms, networking, and basic cabling work.
- Information Systems Research: Studying how organizations generate business value from information technology.
- Digital Business: Investigating the latest trends and techniques in digital (internet-enabled) business.
- Improving Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity: Focused on the strategic, managerial, and operational issues related to cybersecurity.
WrighTek Academy Initiatives May:
- Support new information technology programs (which may include but are not limited to new information technology majors/minors, freshman (must be enrolled in two IT focused courses), sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
- Integrate substantial information technology content for developmental courses that focus on basic troubleshooting in networking, applications, and technology support.
- Develop or substantially enhance bridge programs for all students within the program; offer opportunities for students to create together, to improve their ability to work in teams using AGILE/SCRUM processes.
- Help institutions create or enhance internship and career opportunities for Information Technology students.
Enrollment Eligibility Criteria Includes:
- Currently enrolled student
- Open to all Information Technology majors, Information System majors, and Software Engineer majors
- Must be currently enrolled in at least 2 IT focused courses
- 2.5 GPA or higher
